In recent days he has run in the MLB the rumor that the New York Yankees they are trying to switch to multiplayer.
One of them is Josh Donaldson, the veteran third baseman with 12 seasons in Big leagues. But finding someone to take it won’t be easy. Not just because he’s turning 37, or because of his defensive woes in 2022 (.222 average, 15 homers, 62 RBIs). There are two big obstacles: his temper and his cost.
A Donaldson He is due $21 million in 2023, the final season of his four-year, $92 million contract. He also has a club option for $16 million or an $8 million buyout for 2024, bringing his value to $29 million this year.
The plan is to trade him and move DJ LeMahieu to third or Isiah Kiner-Falefa, a Gold Glove winner at that position. But you’ll probably see Donaldson in the Opening Day lineup in the hopes that it will improve his numbers and make him attractive to a club.
Opinions are mixed about how much importance New York’s front office is placing on the search for a starting pitcher.
Although there are rumors that they are going for Carlos Rodón or Justin Verlander, they believe that the cost will take them away from them, understanding that their budget is conditioned by the negotiation with Aaron Judge.
That’s why it’s thought they’ll round out the rotation with a replacement for Jameson Taillon and that could be Noah Syndergaard, who reinvented himself after Tommy John surgery and is said to have been on the Yankees’ radar this week.
Orioles, focused on pitching, are among many teams in on Carlos Rodon. Yankees, Mets, presumably Giants, others, are in.

The Gradnes Leagues winter meetings begin this Sunday and Yankees general manager Brian Cashman is hoping to get Aaron Judge to agree to continue playing in the Bronx.
“There is still work to be done and I would like to do it together with him,” Cashman told the MLB portal weeks ago.
