Gregory Polanco is close to signing an agreement with the Yomiuri Giants, a Japanese baseball club. The Pittsburgh Pirates placed on assignment to the outfielder, who was in the organization for eight seasons in the MLB.

Polanco is coming off a gray season in the majors, in which in 107 games he could only hit .207. The 30-year-old gardener could look for other options in Asia.

Faced with the work stoppage, several players with experience in the Major Leagues have decided to play it safe and seal agreements in Asian leagues, such as Freddy Galvis, Yasiel Puig, among others.
